The Huffington Post announces Ice Dragon Boat Racing is coming to Winterlude 2017 in Ottawa. This is a first for North America and will be the largest event held in the world with 60 teams participating on February 17 & 18, 2017 at Dows Lake on the Rideau Canal Skateway. CEO John Brooman, of the Tim Hortons Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival, explains that the event is only 1 1/2 to 2 years old with events held in Mongolia, China and Budapest previously. The National Capital Commission and Heritage Canada gave approval for the event with funding from the Chinese embassy.
