How the ice dragon boat festival came to North America and the partnerships created to bring the event to Dows Lake on the Rideau Canal Skateway in Ottawa are detailed by the Centretown News.
Ice dragon boating differs from the warm weather dragon boating in both speed and equipment used. Teams are comprised of 10 paddlers with a steersperson and a drummer. There were 60 teams from all over North America participating.
