Crowd Management is a position that is essential to the Festival. They are there to ensure the weight of the crowd is balanced, that the public is safely away from the paths of the boats and that all fencing remains functional.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE CROWD MANAGEMENT VOLUNTEERS

  • Patrol in groups of 4-5 around the site
  • Ensure the fencing is functional
  • Provide directions for public
  • Guild crowds to balance weight
  • Keep an eye out for dangerous obstructions or safety issues
  • Ensure no vehicles enter the site
  • Ensure that there is no smoking on site
  • Walk and stand for lengthy periods of time
